Types of Termite Treatment
If a termite inspection shows signs of termite activity in your home you need to act as quickly as possible to prevent further damage to your home. There are many different ‘brands’ and variations of a termite treatment but essentially there are 2 types.
The first type of treatment is a termite baiting system.
The second type is a chemical subfloor treatment.
Ask any home or business owner what they wish they did differently with regards to their ongoing efforts to stem a termite infestation and we expect that they will say that they would have secured regular professional inspections. Termite prevention is a lot easier than termite elimination.
Once pests find a way onto your property they can be notoriously difficult to get rid of. Fortunately, there are ways to achieve great results even after the fact. But, if you are someone who believes in taking proactive steps to prevent an infestation, then you’ve come to the right place.

How Termite Prevention Can Protect Your Health and Wellbeing
Here at Dentec Pest Management, we regularly use EXTERRA termite baiting and monitoring system. The reason that we choose this termite treatment over the many other worthy solutions is that it is the only one that has peer-reviewed scientific studies backing its effectiveness. It has been on the market since 2002 and over 100,000 Australian homes already benefit from it.
As much as is possible, it is vital to prevent pests from nesting in your home. CSIRO stated in a report that 32% of Australian homes have a termite presence, which means that even if you do not currently have a problem, some of your neighbours might. Once termites run out of food, they inevitably look elsewhere for it and travel as far as 80 metres from their location to find it.
If they nest in your air ducts and vents, then there is a strong possibility that dust particles can be carried throughout the property. This can pose serious problems for those who suffer from allergies, but even healthy people can become ill repeatedly until the situation has been properly treated.
DIY efforts are generally ineffective in the long run, but using them also runs the risk of inhaling harmful chemicals. Professional termite extermination technicians have the equipment and personal protective equipment they need to prevent this from happening, and with solutions that achieve long-term results, it makes sense to hand such duties over to those with the expertise.

Pre-Construction Termite Treatments
We offer 2 main termite treatments for homes under construction.
A chemical termite barrier can be applied prior to construction or even after construction has started. The chemicals can either kill termites or deter them and we’ll be delighted to advise you on the best solution for your project.
A physical termite barrier is placed under the slab of your building. Termites are able to find their way through a hole just a couple of millimetres wide, so the barrier is laid and adhesive is used to seal the joints.
Both solutions are attractive to potential buyers.
Post-Construction Termite Treatments
Once your building is erected you obviously can’t put a physical barrier in place. Depending on the style of home you own, you can either use a chemical subfloor termite treatment or you can use a termite baiting system.
The best choice for your building will largely depend on the way your home is constructed. If you would like to discuss the best option for your home or business, please call us on 02 6887 2825 and we’ll advise you on the right solution.
What’s The Cost Of Termite Treatments
Termite treatments range in cost – we guarantee to beat any other pest control service. The type of termite treatment being used, size of your home and whether you have a termite infestation dictate the actual cost.
